On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the Darien Police Department announced that nine cars had recently been burglarized, with open storage compartments and disturbed items from those compartments strewn throughout the vehicles.
Nine break-ins and attempted break-ins were reported on Oakshade Avenue, Stanley Road, Libby Lane, Holly Lane, and Hollow Tree Ridge Road between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
No items were stolen in eight of the break-ins, though a tool was taken from a vehicle on Holly Lane.
Police said that at approximately 12:30 a.m. that day, the Hollow Tree Ridge Road resident said he was awoken to a sound in his driveway, and when he looked outside he saw two men attempting to gain access to his vehicle, which was locked.
The two men then ran into the street, got into a Jeep Cherokee, and fled northbound on Hollow Tree Ridge Road. No other descriptive information of the suspects was provided by investigators.
The investigation into the vehicular break-ins is ongoing.
